The Star online. News. North. Friday May 4, 2007

A 16-year-old boy has been arrested in Penang for allegedly raping a Form Two schoolgirl during a date last week.

The boy was picked up at his house in Kupang near Baling, Kedah, on Tuesday and he will be remanded until May 8 to facilitate investigations.

State CID chief Senior Asst Comm II Datuk Abdul Samah Mat said police had classified the case under Section 354 of the Penal Code for using criminal force with intent to outrage the victim’s modesty, and Section 376 of the same Code for rape.

It was reported that the girl had on April 26 gone out with the youth for dinner at 8.30pm. He then took her to the beach and forced himself on her. The victim was then sent home.

Her parents noticed a change in her behaviour and managed to pry the truth from her. They then took her to lodge a police report at the Patani Road police station on Saturday.
