2007 07: Unemployed jailed 16 years for raping his niece

KUALA LUMPUR: An unemployed man was sentenced to 16 years’ jail and ordered to be whipped four times for raping his niece in 2005.

The 21-year-old man had pleaded guilty to two counts of incest and Sessions Court judge Datin Anita Harun Monday imposed an eight-year jail term and two strokes of the rotan on him for each charge.

She ordered the jail terms to run consecutively from the date of arrest on Sept 12, 2005, saying that it was in view of the time frame when both offences were committed.

The man, who is from Sarawak, admitted raping his 15-year-old niece at her aunt's house here in January and on Sept 7, 2005.

The court was told earlier that he raped the Form Three girl after threatening to injure her if she screamed during the first incident.

He removed her clothes, pushed her onto the bed and tied her hands to the metal bedposts.
After raping her, he warned her not to tell anyone before leaving.

She managed to free herself by using her teeth to untie the rope.

In the second incident, he entered her room while she was asleep and forcefully removed her clothes before raping her.
