SERI ISKANDAR: Five teenagers were detained in connection with the break-in at two shops in Kampung Gajah here.
The boys, aged between 14 and 17, were caught at a house in Kampung Bandar Lama at 11am on Monday, hours after they had broken into a hair salon and a shop selling telephone items.
Perak Tengah OCPD Supt Salehudin Abdul Rahman said 27 SIM cards, a wig and a DVD player were recovered from the boys, two of whom are still schooling.
Police believed the boys intended to sell the loot for money for their glue-sniffing activities.
“The boys first broke into a hair salon before breaking into a shop selling telephone items in the early hours of the morning the same day,” Supt Salehudin told reporters.
The boys have been remanded for three days.
