KLANG: A 13-year-old student who uttered a vulgar word at a male teacher was punched twice in the face on Monday.
Remove class student Lim Nien Nie had to seek treatment at the Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital here after the 4.30pm incident.
Her father, Lim Kim Chung, 41, also lodged a police report against the teacher at SM Raja Lumu in Pandamaran.
Nien Nie, who was in charge of cleanliness in the class, said the teacher became angry when she shouted at a student to clean the class.
"I found the class dirty and shouted at another student to sweep the floor as the teacher was not teaching at that point. I uttered a vulgar word at the teacher after he scolded me," she told a press conference arranged by Selangor DAP vice-chairman Peter Tan here.
"He said he wanted to meet my father but I told him to do it himself. He then punched me twice on my face."Nien Nie said she felt dizzy and vomited after the incident in front of 20 students.
Several students took her to the staff room where ice-packs were placed on her face to reduce the swelling.
Lim, who rushed to the school after being told of the incident, claimed teachers prevented him from seeing his daughter. The teacher concerned also refused to see him.
"Only about 7pm did I finally get to see her and was shocked to see her condition.
"He then lodged a police report and took her to the hospital.
He said he went to the school with a policeman about 1pm the next day but the teacher refused to meet them.
He only came to the office when threatened with arrest. Even then he showed no remorse and was arrogant.
"Lim said even though his daughter had uttered a vulgar word, it was no excuse to be punched in the face.
"It’s unacceptable and I demand action be taken against him.
"He said Nien Nie did not want to go to school as she was afraid of the teacher
A district education department official said he was awaiting a report from the school.
