2007 07: Case of mother who strangled sons postponed to July 11

The Balik Pulau Magistrate Court here today postponed to July 11 for mention of a case involving a woman charged with strangling her two sons with an iron cord.

Magistrate Court Registrar Ahmad Tajuddin Zain, who presided over the case as Magistrate Noorhisham Mohd Jaafar was away attending a meeting, fixed the date following an application by Deputy Public Prosecutor Razali Che Ani to transfer the case to the High Court.

Rosniza Ibrahim, 30, from Kuala Kurau, Perak, was charged with the murder of her sons, allegedly using the cord of an electric iron at house No 7-2-16, Taman Indah, Lebuh Batu Maung 8, Bayan Lepas last February 18. She was alleged to have killed Muhamad Alif Hakimi Idris, 6, at about 11pm in the house and another son, two-year-old Muhamad Alif Hazimi, about 15 minutes later at the same place and day. She is charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code which carries the mandatory death sentence upon conviction.
