KUALA LUMPUR: Video recordings of a girl in compromising positions with two teenagers are said to be circulating via mobile phones.
Sources said a teenage girl had lodged a police report that she had been gang raped. Police have started investigations.
Sources said the video recordings were believed to have been made last year and have been in circulation since February.
Three months ago, the girl, believed to be a college student, was said to have lodged a report claiming she had been drugged and gang raped at a budget hotel here one month short of her 16th birthday last July.
Sources said police were looking at various motives, including an extortion that went wrong.
They are tracing the teenager who recorded the incidents. The suspect is believed to be one of the youths featured in one of the two video clips in circulation.
Police are working to establish the events leading to the recordings and the rape report. They are also looking at whether the girl was forced into lodging the rape report.
It could not be established if anyone had been detained for questioning yet.

Purpose/objectives of the news tracker
Daniel Schorr of CBS News says, "All news is an exaggeration of life." But, life should not be a casual dismissal and forgetting of the many instances of abuse and violation of our children.
Shelter News Tracker is then an attempt to record and track the many reports and court cases of abuse that is reported daily in our Malaysian online newspapers. In this way, Shelter (Advocacy & Awareness) hopes to be a voice and a record for the innocents in our society.
After all, a Chinese proverb says, "Good news about someone never gets past the door, but bad news will travel a thousand leagues away."
