2007 05: Form Four student killed for kick

KOTA KINABALU: A student was stabbed to death and two others were injured in a mob attack near the boy's home near here over a kick which was allegedly done in jest.

Hamdan Pedda, a Form Four student at SMK Inanam, was earlier with his two friends at a road in Kampung Warisan here when another boy passed them.

Hamdan, 16, allegedly gave a mischievous kick on the boy's buttocks as he walked by.

The boy returned later with a man and a group of six boys, all armed with sticks and a sharp object believed to be a knife.

In the ensuing melee, Hamdan was stabbed in the chest.

Following the 7pm incident on Thursday, the police picked up six students, aged 14 to 17, and a 22-year-old man for questioning.

Kota Kinabalu city police chief Asst Comm Ku Chin Wah said the case has been classified as murder.

He said police were recording statements from the suspects and the two injured students.
