ALOR STAR: An elderly bomoh was charged yesterday with six counts of raping his two underage stepdaughters.
He pleaded not guilty.
The 65-year-old was charged at the Sessions Court here with raping his 15-year-old stepdaughter on three occasions last year. The stepdaughter is now five months’ pregnant. He is also alleged to have raped his 12-year-old stepdaughter three times last year.
Police arrested the man last week after he went into hiding for two months following a report lodged by the elder stepdaughter.
He was alleged to have committed the offences at an unnumbered house in Mukim Ayer Puteh, Pendang.
He was unrepresented.
Deputy public prosecutor Azeezi Nordin applied for the trial for the rape of both girls to run simultaneously.
Judge Chan Jit Li did not allow bail and fixed hearing for April 24.

- is the natural extension of Shelter Home for Children's (a registered welfare organisation which was started in 1981) mission to aid abused, abandoned or neglected children through our homes and services. As such, Shelter (Advocacy & Awareness) was started in April 2007 to be a stronger voice for children in Malaysia who have been abused or violated.
Purpose/objectives of the news tracker
Daniel Schorr of CBS News says, "All news is an exaggeration of life." But, life should not be a casual dismissal and forgetting of the many instances of abuse and violation of our children.
Shelter News Tracker is then an attempt to record and track the many reports and court cases of abuse that is reported daily in our Malaysian online newspapers. In this way, Shelter (Advocacy & Awareness) hopes to be a voice and a record for the innocents in our society.
After all, a Chinese proverb says, "Good news about someone never gets past the door, but bad news will travel a thousand leagues away."
